Playground Chorus is a six-week project designed for early years settings and primary schools in Cornwall.

Putting music at the heart of the school day provides the opportunity for everyone to flourish.

Through a series of exciting, engaging music workshops Playground Chorus promotes, researches and encourages playground singing, body percussion and rhythm activities. It’s suitable for children from early years up to KS2.

Alongside the delivery of the workshops, Little Bird is also gathering and researching childhood clapping and playground rhymes within Cornish playgrounds, both past and present day — and we’ll share these with you and your pupils.

Playground Chorus includes:

  • A series of 6 one-day weekly workshops where we’ll spend 45 minutes with each year group following a timetable to suit your school.
  • Workshops incorporate clapping and playground rhymes, body percussion, hand percussion, singing, rhythm and music notation activities.
  • CPD session for your staff.
  • Performance opportunities.
  • Resources including handouts and stickers for all.
  • Opportunities to obtain photographic images for school use.

Sharing individual material and group performances in a positive nurturing environment.

Workshops take place in hall or large classroom and we have space for eight schools to take part in this initiative in the current academic year.
